How Do You Make The Vertical Roll Pattern On Tie Dye Shirts?
Tie dying is a popular variation on the ancient technique of fabric decoration or resistance dying. There are many techniques that produce much different results. Follow the steps below to create a groovy shirt using the vertical roll pattern technique. Lay the shirt out on a flat surface. Fold the sleeves in and the neck and shoulders down to create a rectangular shape with the shirt. Fold 3 inches of 1 side over the shirt. Fold the next 3 inches under the shirt. Fold the next 3 inches over the shirt again, followed by the next 3 inches under the shirt again. Continue this pattern until the entire shirt is folded, smoothing out wrinkles as you go. Grab the bottom of the shirt, and begin to roll it up toward the top tightly. Keep rolling until the entire shirt is in a roll. Secure the roll in place with a rubber band. Put the roll in the first color of dye. Set it on its side, not the top or bottom of the cylinder-shaped roll. Leave it for 10 minutes. Move onto the next color of dye. P
