How Do You Make The Slam Dunk Contest Better?
The Slam Dunk contest is the best part of the NBA’s All Star weekend but watching it is bittersweet because the jam session could be so much better. Here are some proposals to make this big event into a feature that captivates fans around the world. First, the number of dunkers needs to increase. Four contestants is not enough. This number needs to be at least 6 and maybe even 8. A more diversified field will draw more interest and stir even more creativity within the players as competition grows fierce. I understand the NBA does not want to make this into a drawn out event that loses its luster as time wanes by. This can be easily rectified with my next proposal. The following change must be made: players must only have 45 seconds to complete a dunk attempt. After 45 seconds, the player can have 2 final attempts to get a dunk. The current rules provide for 2 minutes with 2 emergency dunks and this is what can be devastating to what is supposed to be an action packed event. Nobody ever
