While many mermaid costumes focus on the fluke portion of the tail, they often forget about the pectoral fins. On a fish, the pectoral fins are on the side, behind the gills. For a mermaid’s tail, pectoral fins are along the sides of the hip. A simple, gossamer fin of ruffled organza is stiff enough to stand on its own, and also is more comfortable than something with wires. Cut four strips of organza fabric.
