How Do You Make Texas Millionaire Candy (Pecan Turtles)?
Texas Millionaire Candy is one of my family’s favorite candies. Otherwise known as pecan turtles, they consist of chopped pecans smothered in caramel and encased in rich chocolate. I’m sure this candy will become a favorite with your family and friends, too! Take the sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and corn syrup and combine in a large cast iron skillet. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the temperature on a cooking thermometer registers 240 degrees (hard-ball stage). Take candy mixture off heat and add the butter. Stir in the nuts, mixing until well combined. Pour candy into a heavily greased dish and place in the refrigerator to cool. When candy is cool enough to handle – after an hour or two – butter your hands and form the candy into 2-inch balls. Place balls on cookie sheet covered in wax paper; place in the freezer to freeze.
