How Do You Make Terrain For War Games?
War games are an outdoor activity that simulates battle, usually with attacks and defenses. One of the most commonly known war games is “Capture the Flag,” which, according the the U.S. Scouting Service Project, appeared in a Scoutmaster’s handbook as early as 1947. A common theme of most war games is the division of the players into two or more teams, which then strategize against one another to gain ground or an object such as a flag that has been designated as a winning signal. Choose an area outdoors that contains some trees and other naturally occurring obstacles as a basis for your war game terrain. Create a rough map of the existing land. Make notes of any trees, creeks or other distinguishing features of the ground. Use your map to decide which territory will be given to each team, and draw a line down the map dividing the areas. The two basic types of terrain you will be adding are pits and shelters, and each team should have a comparable number and layout of each type of terr
