How Do You Make Table Placemats From Cloth?

0

Whether you have no time or money to run to the store or you just want to give your table a unique, cozy and personalized flair, you can make placemats from your fabric stash or scrap bag if you’re willing to put your sewing machine to work. Here’s how! • Two fabric rectangles. Cut two rectangles the size of the desired mat plus half an inch (1.25 cm) in all directions (to allow for seams). • Sew around the perimeter. Sew the two rectangles together with printed or “right” sides facing together, leaving a 3-4 inch gap for turning. • Clip the corners. Miter the corners. • Turn it so that seam allowances are hidden inside. Turn it “right” side out. • Slip stitch the opening closed. • Top stitch the edges. Top stitch around the perimeter. A design on each side. Congratulate yourself, as you have just sewn a placemat!
