How Do You Make Suspended Bed Canopies?
A canopy over your bed can transform your bedroom into an elegant, whimsical and romantic space. Suspending a canopy from the ceiling is a simple project that can be completed in an afternoon with just a few simple tools. Cut and hem the edges of a piece of fabric that measures the width of the bed and at least seven feet long. Create pockets for the dowel rods at the top and bottom of the piece of fabric. Fold the edges over about two inches and sew. Mark the ceiling about two inches in from the four corners of the bed. Install the circle end screws at the markings using drywall anchors. Determine the height you want to hang your canopy and cut four lengths of chain accordingly. Attach one length of chain to each of the hooks. Attach a metal ring to the end of each chain. Place the dowel rods inside the pockets you made in the fabric and insert the ends of the rods into the metal rings.
