How Do You Make Surfing Count As Your High School PE Class Or Team Sport?

Approach your athletic director or principal, if the school does not offer surfing, and propose the idea. Seek out a coach or teacher who will support you and the sport of surfing. Contact other schools that have surf teams and ask their coaches how you can gain support. Tell administrators that many coastal high schools have sanctioned surf teams and that many schools recognize surfing as a legitimate physical education option. To make time for surfing, offer to swap your homeroom or first period for another class later in the day. Keep your grades up, so school administrators can’t argue that surfing has interfered with your schoolwork.
