Here’s a quick and easy way to prepare this favorite that will have you enjoying it before you can say “it’s cheesier than the cheesiest!” Cook macaroni according to package directions in a large pot of boiling salted water. Reduce heat to medium and cook until just tender, stirring often. Drain macaroni and return to pan. Add the stick of butter and stir until it melts. Divide the pound of cheese in half. Pour half the cooked and drained macaroni into the baking pan and spread to the edges. Lay the half of the cheese slices overlapping each other across the top of the macaroni. Pour the remainder of the cooked macaroni over the cheese and lay the remainder of the cheese slices across the top, again overlapping each other.
