How Do You Make Spiced Hot Chocolate?
Perfect for a cold day or the holiday season, spiced hot chocolate is a pleasant change from the regular version. There are many variations of hot chocolate, and adding cinnamon is a festive and delicious option. Serve for a party, family get together, or that cold and rainy day in front of the fireplace. A low calorie version can be made using Splenda or other artificial sweetener, making spiced hot chocolate a guilt free treat. Combine the sugar, cinnamon, allspice and cocoa powder in a medium saucepan. Whisk the ingredients slowly with the water until it becomes thick and smooth. Put the saucepan over a medium heat. Add the milk by whisking it in slowly with the chocolate mixture. Simmer for a few minutes until it is combined thoroughly, but be careful not to let the milk scald. Pour into 4 mugs, and top with marshmallows and cinnamon sticks, if desired.
