That’s because the soap making process, especially the lye components, just eats up soap fragrances. Many scents just fade right away and disappear almost immediately. Favorite fragrances like the citrus oils don’t stand a chance. No way can an orange oil stand up to the process. You may want orange scented soap, but it won’t happen with cold process soap making, no matter how much essential oil you include. That means with citrus scents you either settle for fragrance oils, synthetics, or use some other oils that aren’t really citrus, but have citrus notes. That would include lemongrass, for example.
