How Do You Make Soap-Based Organic Pesticide?
Earwigs and white flies and horn worms, oh my! This solution deters and kills earwigs (which are especially bad this year in Southern California), white flies, and the moths that become horn worms. Other pests all also deterred by it. Step 1 Make sure your spray bottle is clean. If you had a different chemical or solution in it previously, be sure to wash the spray bottle out thoroughly so that none of the chemical or solution remains. Step 2 Pour 1/4 cup (2 ounces) of the castile soap into the spray bottle. Step 3 Add 20 – 30 drops of pine essential oil. Step 4 Slowly add warm water to make 2 cups (16 ounces) of solution. You will have less foam if you allow the water to pour in on the side of the bottle. Step 5 Swish the bottle until the soap is completely incorporated into the water. Step 6 Spray plants with the solution so that it covers each leaf. Allow it to dry completely before watering. Reapply solution every 4 or 5 days, or more if the insects are persistent.
