How Do You Make Skateboard Trucks Loose?
While tight trucks are great for high speed, they make it difficult to turn, which could make it harder to land certain tricks. Loosening your trucks will not only make it easier to perform more technical maneuvers, they’ll put your board in top-notch condition for some serious shredding. Lay the skateboard upside-down on the ground and find the correct wrench size. The kingpins are large bolts poking through the center of each truck; oftentimes, manufacturers produce brand-name tools to match up with the different options. While a standard kingpin requires a hexagonal socket, an inverted kingpin calls for an Allen wrench. Loosen the trucks; insert the socket/wrench into the kingpin and turn it counter-clockwise until the desired tightness is attained. Ride the skateboard to test it out. If the board is too tight or too loose, adjust the two trucks accordingly.
