How Do You Make Simple Sourdough Bread Without A Recipe?

Sometimes recipes can mess us up more than help. Go with your intuition with this simple sourdough bread, and after a few loaves you’ll have it just right. Freshen your sourdough starter with one cup flour and one cup warm water. Leave the sourdough starter out all night in a bowl. In the morning, tie your hair back and put on music. Save some sourdough starter for next time, and to the rest, add a sprinkle of salt and a bit of flour at a time, stirring until sticky. It is during this phase that you’ll also want to add non-chunky goodies, such as butter, olive oil, honey, or poppy seeds. Once the dough is too stiff and sticky to stir with a spoon, turn it out onto a floured baking surface. Continue kneading in flour until your dough is firm and pliable, but just a tad sticky. Continue kneading until the dough begins to get stretchy. You’ll be at it for 10 minutes at least, but don’t go overboard. (You can look up methods for testing if you’ve kneaded enough.) Add a small amount of oil
