How Do You Make Silver Chain Earrings?
Loop-in-Loop is an ancient method of chain making using pure metal that will bond or fuse to itself with heat. Pure silver will fuse to itself to form a closed ring. The closed ring is formed into a loop and woven into the next loop. Form the fine silver wire into a neat bundle and anneal on charcoal block (Read my tip on annealing). Quench. Note the wire must be “fine” silver, not sterling silver. The fusing process will not work with sterling silver. Wrap the annealled wire around the 3/8″ dowel keeping moderate tension on the wire and wrapping without gaps or overlaps. Remove the wire from the dowel. Anneal the wrapped length of wire. Holding the wrapped length so as to keep its shape, cut a few rounds at a time. Re-position the cutters to the exact last cut location before making the next cut. Complete all the above steps until you have at least 36 wire circles. Close the ends of the circles using back and forth motion to create tension, as in closing jump rings. The ends must touc
