Oftentimes, silk ribbons aren’t ready made in colors the crafter needs. Instead of placing an expensive specialty order for custom-colored silk ribbon roses, learn how to make them. Purchase a rose-making tool at a craft store or make one with a large tapestry needle. Cut off the top of the needle’s eye with pliers so that there are 2 prongs. Sand the cut edges with sandpaper. Select a ribbon and slide it into the rose-making tool about 1/4 inch and apply a drop of glue on the end. Revolve the tool 3 full turns, being sure to never pull the ribbon too tightly. Add a drop of glue to the bottom after the third rotation to hold the rose together. Fold the ribbon backwards after gluing and continue winding in the same direction.
