How Do You Make Safety Pin Baskets?
Found at craft fairs and often made by home crafters, safety pin baskets are a beautiful home-decor project. The end result provides you with a cute basket for your own use or for a gift. You can store trinkets or small candies in the baskets, or merely keep them on display. Highly popular during the 1950s and 1960s, safety pin baskets are a great gift for Easter that will give an old-time, antique feel to a room, vanity or dresser. Open your safety pins, and thread beads onto the open part of the pin. Start with about 20 pins, and keep adding to them as you go. Close the pins once the beads are threaded onto them. Cut about a 12-inch piece of thin wire and tie off one end. Thread the wire through the top hole of a safety pin, and then a bead.
