How Do You Make Royal Icing For Sugar Cookies?
Have you ever wanted to learn how to decorate sugar cookies like you see in all of the cookbooks and magazines during the holiday seasons? If so, here is a great (and easy) recipe that can help you make the cookies you have always wanted to try! You will need two batches of icing. One is called Full-Strength Royal Icing, and the other is called Flow. They are both made from the same recipe, but flow requires additional water. Instructions for each type of icing will be listed below. Full-Strength Royal Icing: Mix all ingredients together in a stand mixer and mix on low for 10-12 minutes. If you are using a hand mixer, you must mix for 14-17 minutes until the icing is no longer shiny. You may add 1/2 tsp flavored extract (Almond and Lemon are popular flavors) and food coloring once the icing is done mixing. Make sure to use a gel-based food coloring (such as cake food coloring). Flow: Take 2/3 of the Full-Strength icing and place it in a grease-free bowl. Add water a few drops at a time
