How Do You Make Round Collapsing Paper Lanterns?
Remember those paper lanterns you made as a kid? Maybe it is time you made some of those with your own kids. Search out a few sheets of bright construction or patterned papers—maybe throw in some glitter or dangling beads—add a few strands of colored twinkle lights, and voila, you have the beginnings of a great outdoor kids’ party! Or buy some elegant papers and delicate chains to hang them from, and create sophisticated versions for an adult gathering. Fold each piece of construction paper in half lengthwise to create a narrow rectangle. Draw a faint pencil line as a guide 1 inch from the unfolded edge all the way across using a ruler. Starting 1 inch in from one end, cut slits straight in from the FOLDED edge to the pencil line on the open edge. Space cuts about ½ inch apart all the way to within 1 inch from the opposite side.
