How Do You Make Raw Cream Cheese And Whey?
If you want to make your own raw cream cheese, want whey for food preservation, or need to use up some extra raw milk, follow these easy steps. Making cream cheese and whey from raw milk is extremely easy. In the jar pictured here I used about two cups of raw milk, but I have used up to a quart at a time. Fill your jar with milk, allowing about an inch of headroom, and set on you kitchen counter for 1 to 5 days. You are waiting for the milk to solidify and the whey to seperate in the jar. Once your raw milk has seperated, you will need to strain the whey from the cream cheese using a strainer and clean cloth or several layers of cheese cloth. Set your strainer over a clean bowl, line your towel with your strainer, and pour your cheese and whey into the towel. It will take several hours for the whey to fully seperate from the chream cheese. Once the majority of the whey has strained through the towel, tie the corners of the towel together around a wooden spoon and allow the cheese to ha
