How Do You Make Purple Food Coloring From Blackberries?

This all natural dye is safe and extremely simple. It’s very safe to use but it will stain anything it touches so be careful to use plastic underneath your work area. When using fresh blackberries, wash and sort them. If you’re using frozen berries take them out of the freezer and let them thaw to room temperature. If you don’t have a blender, mash the berries up really well in the bowl. Strain the berries through a fine strainer. You can use cheese cloth if you have it. If you have a blender you can pour the berries in and blend it. Liquefy it as much as possible. Strain the liquid through a fine sieve or through cheese cloth. Use the strained blackberry liquid for your food coloring. It’s great for Easter egg dying. You can also use it on air drying clay dough (this recipe is on eHow), papier mache items and other projects.
