How Do You Make Powdered Sugar Frosting Without Corn Syrup?
Admit it, frosting makes everything better. Even on your worst day, a big, gooey dollop of sugary-sweet frosting can lift your spirits like nothing else. Homemade powdered sugar frosting is supremely yummy and easy to whip up in just a few minutes. It’s also remarkably versatile. Once you’ve prepared the basic recipe, you can color and flavor it to dress up cakes, cookies and cupcakes for any holiday, event or special occasion. Sift 3 cups powdered sugar and 1/4-cup cream of tartar into a large mixing bowl. Add 1 cup softened butter. Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar on high speed until well-combined. Add 1/4-cup heavy cream and 2 tsp. vanilla extract. Cream once again on high until mixture is smooth and fluffy (8 to 10 minutes). If mixture is too dry, add a bit more heavy cream; if it is too soft, add a bit more confectioner’s sugar. Use frosting immediately. Store remaining frosting in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
