How Do You Make Pound Cake Petit Fours?
Here is an easy recipe for petit fours. Traditional petit fours are sponge cake based, that can hold up to being cut into small pieces. Each piece is individually frosted. Step 1 Wash and slice strawberries. Put aside. Step 2 Slice cake into 1/4 inch thick (lengthwise). Average pound cake will allow 3 strips. Step 3 Spread jam over each of the 3 strips. Step 4 Cut cake strips into inch squares. Step 5 Take 1 square with jam, place a strawberry on top. Next, place another square on top of 1st square with the strawberry. You will place second square with the jam being on the inside and cake on the outside, to create a sandwich. Step 6 Separate frosting into bowls, based on how many colors you are going to use. Add food coloring to each. For example, if you are using red, white (no food coloring), and blue, you will have 3 bowls. Step 7 Frost each petite four.
