How Do You Make Pom Poms With Swirly Paper And Popsicle Sticks?
Methinks your ‘swirly’ paper is called crepe paper. You mean the streamers people put up for parties, sometimes twisting two colors together, right? That’s crepe paper. Anyway, cut the crepe paper streamers into pieces 15″ to 20″ long. Use about 10 pieces per pompon. Lay all the pieces together, kind of on top of and next to each other. Tie snugly around the middle with yarn or string and knot off. Tie at least three knots if they’re going to be shaken! Put a little white glue (Elmer’s type) on the knots, too, for security. Make a handle out of the yarn, or tie and glue the yarn to one end of your craft sticks. If you do that, tie them about an inch down the stick and apply the glue liberally so they won’t fly off. For paper, string, and wood, white glue is really your best bet. Let the pompons dry thoroughly, for a day or two if you have the time. Mix the colors or use just one, as you like.
