Brick patios are an attractive and durable option, but the bricks can be expensive and you are limited in the color and design available. You can get the look of a brick patio by making your own bricks from dyed concrete. You can even add sand or small pebbles to them to give them texture. While traditionally bricks are baked in a kiln, making your own patio bricks from concrete is much simpler and does not require specialized knowledge. Many home improvement stores have paving molds for sale or you can find an even larger assortment online. Set your molds on a level surface and spray with release agent. Purchase several molds so that you can cast many bricks at once and cut down on the cost of wasted concrete. Mix the quick setting concrete with water as recommended by the manufacturer in the 5 gallon bucket. Make sure it is thoroughly mixed.
