You may remember papier mache, also known as paper-mâché, from elementary school art class. The craft of creating a three-dimensional piece of art from strips of paper and glue, papier mache is very simple and easy to master. However, in spite of its simplicity, it can be used creatively to add elegant, sophisticated, and decorative elements to your house. For example, with merely a glass soda bottle, some tissue paper, flower petals, and some flour and water, you can create a lovely vase that is both ornamental and functional. Step 1 Purchase some pre-dried flower petals from a local craft store or dry your own petals. If you wish to dry your own, choose flowers of a vibrant hue with large petals. Roses work well for this. Separate the petals from the flower and place them between the pages of a large book. Allow the petals to remain in the book for at least two days. The petals should be pressed but not brittle.
