How Do You Make Papier-Mâché Fruit?
Use simple supplies around the house to create papier mâché fruit. Make sure to read “How to Make Papier Mâché Paste” in Related eHows, left, before you get started. Crumple a sheet of newspaper into a rough egg shape. Twist the paper at the top of the egg shape tightly, so that it is thinner than the lower half. This will become the top of the pear. Add additional paper to the form until it achieves a suitably pear-like shape, then tape the paper in place with masking tape. Twist a small piece of newspaper into a rope, bend the rope in half, and tape it along its length for the pear stem. Make a small hole in the top of the pear using a pencil lead. Put the stem into the hole, and secure with tape. Apply two to three layers of papier mâché to the exterior of the form. Allow the papier mâché to dry overnight.
