Native American Indians made paintbrushes from the leaves of the Yucca plant and used those brushes to paint their handcrafted clay pottery. Pick leaves from a Yucca plant by using scissors to cut the stem just below the base of the leaf. Depending on the size of the leaf and the size of the paintbrush you wish to make, you need one to ten leaves per paintbrush. The more leaves you use, the bigger the paintbrush will be. Place the leaves on top of a large flat rock. The rock should be large enough for the entire leaf to rest upon.
