How Do You Make New England Squash Pie?
Make a pie out of squash just like you would would pumpkin or sweet potatoes. It’s a real tasty treat, especially in the fall. It’s also perfect for gardeners because there always seems to be an abundance of squash during the summer time. Prepare the ingredients: 1 3/4 cups of stranded mashed cooked squash 1 teaspoon of salt 1 1/2 cups of milk 3 eggs 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon of ginger 1 tablespoon of melted butter 1 9-inch uncooked pie shell, in a pie pan or glass plate Mix all of the pie filling ingredients together with a mixture. Blend it well. Pour the pie filling into the pie shell, and place in the oven. Bake for about 45 to 50 minutes at 425 degrees F. You might need to wrap the pie shell edges to keep them from burning. Pie will be done when a knife comes out of the pie clean.
