How Do You Make Musical Instruments With Children?
Your household already contains many of the items necessary to create instruments for budding musicians. Make these easy, inexpensive musical instruments with your children to keep them busy and encourage their imagination. Fill several glasses with varying amounts of water. Tell your child to use a spoon to gently hit the glass and create a song using the sounds of his new xylophone. Punch holes along the length of a paper towel roll with a pen or pencil. Cover one end of the roll with a piece of wax paper and secure it using a rubber band. Instruct your child to blow into his new horn and create different sounds by putting his fingers over the holes. Paint some old washers with different colors of nail polish. Hang the washers on a ruler, pencil or stick by wrapping yarn around the top, threading yarn through the washers and tying the yarn ends together. Tell your child to listen to his new chime by shaking it or tapping the washers with a spoon. Transform an empty, round oatmeal box
