Decorate your house, Halloween style, with some whimsical mummy jars, or use the mummy jars to add a unique touch to your next Halloween party. You can use them as candy jars, candle holders or even as vases for a bouquet with a Halloween theme. Attach the large googly eyes to the jar with the hot glue gun. Put a small amount of plaster of paris in a disposable pie pan and add water a little at a time to make a thin paste. Cut the gauze or cheesecloth into narrow strips. Dip the gauze or strips of cheesecloth in the pie plate and squeeze out the extra plaster of Paris mixture with your fingers. Wrap the wet gauze or cheesecloth around the jar, smoothing it as you go. Wrap the jars in such a way that the googly eyes peek out. Allow the mummy jars to dry thoroughly before you use them. Apply a second layer of gauze or cheesecloth strips if you don’t want any light leaking through. Wrap black or white vinyl tape around the lip.
