How Do You Make Miniature Straw Bales?

0

You can make simple, miniature straw bales to go with decorative displays, childrens’ toy horses, or for miniature stables and barns. If you want to scale them, the typical size of a bale is three to four feet long, 18 inches wide, and 18 inches tall. It is secured with two lengths of twine tied in parallel around the bale to secure the straw. Cut a rectangular shape from Styrofoam. Measure the desired size you want your bale to be and make an initial cut with the craft knife to outline it. Finish cutting out the rectangle using a hack saw for bigger bales that are too big for the craft knife to cut out. Arrange the straw on a flat surface. Long pieces can be glued on the top, bottom, and ends of the bale and small particles on the sides for full effect. If you can’t get straw from a farm, try making your own. Straw is made from grass by taking clippings from the lawn and drying them in the sun for three to four days until they’re dried and brown. Glue the straw to the Styrofoam. Liber
