How Do You Make Mashed Potato Yeast Rolls?
Who knew you could use ordinary mashed potatoes to make yeast dinner rolls? Well potatoes are a starch so I guess it makes logical sense. Use the steps below for the Mashed Potato Yeast Roll recipe. Fix 1 cup of mashed potatoes, and set it aside to cool. Dissolve 1 package of yeast in a cup of lukewarm water. Set aside for later use. Mix 2/3 of a cup of shortening with 1 1/2 warm water together in a large mixing bowl. Add 2 eggs, 2/3 of a cup of sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons of salt, and the yeast water. Mix together. Add 7 to 7 1/2 cups of all purpose flour. Knead for 5 minutes on a floured surface. Place in the refrigerator for 8 hours. Remove from the fridge, after the 8 hours. Then roll out for the rolls. Allow them to rise for 3 to 4 hours in a warm dry spot. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 to 12 minutes. The rolls will be done when they are golden brown.
