Empty 2 cups of white, granulated sugar into a large plastic zipper bag. Make sure to use a brand of bag that you trust will stay sealed when shaken. Decide on a color for your marshmallow chicks and add to the bag 1/2 tsp. of liquid food coloring in that shade. Seal the bag tightly and gently shake it to distribute the food coloring evenly. Squeeze the contents gently, working the color into all the sugar so that it is a uniform hue. Sift the sugar if there are lumps that you cannot break up with your hands.
