Beeswax is a by-product of the honey-making process. The female bee workers make this wax to seal the ends of the honeycomb once it is full and ready for maturation. Beeswax is used in creams, lotions and balms, binding them and giving them body and a wonderful honey fragrance. Lanolin is another natural product. This oil-like wax is obtained from the wool of sheep and helps to make your skin soft. You can use these two natural ingredients to make your own lotions at home. Measure 2 1/2 ounces of beeswax, 4 ounces of lanolin, 2/3 cup of mineral oil, 3/4 cup water and 1 tsp. of Borax. Melt the beeswax and lanolin completely with the oil in a double boiler. Instead of a double boiler, you can place an oven-safe dish inside of another oven-safe dish that is filled with water. Place the two dishes in an oven preheated to 150 degrees Fahrenheit.
