How Do You Make Loose Molding Clay?
Let your child’s imagination run wild with homemade molding clay. This clay is loose and will keep fresh and pliable if placed in an airtight container when not in use. The clay is made with ingredients straight from the pantry. Add different shades of food coloring to create separate batches of colored clay. All the ingredients are nontoxic and suitable for small children. Pour 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt into a mixing bowl. Pour 3/4 cup water into the bowl slowly while mixing with a fork. The mixture will harden as you continue to mix it. Add the cooking oil to the mixture when it becomes too difficult to stir. Add more water if the mixture is too hard or more flour if the mixture is too watery. Continue stirring as you add a few drops of food coloring (optional). Add more drops of food coloring to gain a darker, more intense color.
