How Do You Make Lemoncello?
If you’ve ever tasted the Italian liquor lemoncello, you will seriously consider making your own, after seeing how easy it is. Every now and then I really want to order a shot at a bar, but to no avail, they’re out. Lemoncello is one of the most popular liquors right now, so it is expensive to buy at the liquor store; usually around $30.00. Make your own; you have to be patient though, it takes a few weeks, but it is definitely worth the wait. You can freeze for a shot, or add to other drinks or desserts. Wash the lemons real well. Remember, you’re going to be drinking this. Remove the outer yellow covering called zest with a vegetable peeler. Lemons have a layer of white bitter pith right under the zest. You need to be careful and not include the pith. If you do, scrape off with a knife. If the pith remains on the zest, it will make your lemoncello bitter. After removing the zest from the lemons, add with one bottle of vodka in a GLASS jar or jug and cover. Place in a cool, dark place
