How Do You Make Jelly Thumbprint Cookies?
These jelly thumbprint cookies are easy to make and delicious. They will be a festive and colorful addition to your Christmas cookie plates. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Mix together the butter, white sugar, brown sugar and egg yolks and vanilla. Blend in the flour until everything is thoroughly mixed. Scrape the sides of the bowl as you go. Place one inch balls of dough onto a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Press your thumb into the center of each ball to make a dent. Use a spoon or knife to add a small amount of jelly or jam to the dent in each cookie. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the cookies are light golden brown on the edges and bottom. Some variations: Try a variety of jams and jellies for different flavors. Before baking, sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top of the cookies to make them sparkle.
