The Key to making good horse costumes for children is making the costume for two kids. One kid gets to be the front of the horse and one kid gets to be the rear of the horse. Make the general shape of a horse’s head out of the chicken wire. The head should be made so that it sits comfortably on the shoulders so that the child will be able to see out of eye holes which will be poked in the horse’s neck. Cut the wiffle ball in half, and use each half for the horse’s eyes. The big, round eyes give a slightly comic look to the costume. Once you have attached the eyes, you can paper mache over the entire head (including the eyes) and wait for the paper mache to dry.
