Making hoop earrings is a good first project if you want to begin a hobby in jewelry making. This is one of the easiest pieces of jewelry to make, especially if you purchase a pre-made hoop. Cut a piece of strong wire into a 2-inch long piece with wire cutters. Sterling silver wire works great for this project. Twist 1 end of the wire with a pair of round-nose pliers until you form a small circle at the end. This will form the clasp for your earring. Turn the rest of the wire around with the pliers to form a circle in the size of your choice. If you encounter difficulty making the circle completely round or making the 2 earrings the same size, twist the wire around something round to make it easier. Bring the 2 ends together until you can clasp the hoop with the small clasp you have made on one end of the wire. Open the hoop by separating the 2 pieces sideways, instead of pulling it apart.
