How Do You Make Homemade Root Beer?
I used to love homemade root beer when I was a kid. My grandparents often made it in the summer in a 5 gallon cooler. He made it with root beer extract. That is the root beer recipe I will use for this article. This is a recipe that uses root beer extract. You can often find the root beer extract in grocery store. It is also available online or from brewery supply stores. Traditionally it was made with real sassafras tree roots. However because tests showed a cancer causing agent use of sassafras root has been banned from sale in the U.S. You can still find it in the wild but most extracts are now made with vanilla, wintergreen and other herbs.
