Making your own cleansers is a great way to save money and know exactly what you are using to clean your home, since so many brand names out there are suspicious of causing illnesses. I am proud to say I have Amish relatives. These cleansers are tried and true for generations. Be sure to label your cleansers with ingredients and uses. AMAZING AMISH CLEANSER: (Use this for cleaning walls and taking wax off floors.) Mix together 1 C ammonia, 1/2 C vinegar, 1/4 C baking soda, and 1 gallon of water. Put in empty spray bottles for cleaning walls. AMISH COLD SOAP RECIPE: Combine 5 pints cold water, 2 cans of lye, 4 T. sugar, 4 T. ammonia, 1/2 C Sal Soda, 1/2 C Borox, 2 oz. glycerine, 1 oz. Oil of Sassafras, and 1 box Tide Detergent. Let come to the right temperature on the stove (lukewarm). Then pour this mixture into 10 lbs. of melted lard (NEVER pour the lard into the lye). Stir until it is creamy. Let harden but cut into pieces before it gets too hard. Use a granite or iron kettle to mix
