How Do You Make Homemade Corned Beef Brisket?
How better to celebrate St. Patty’s day than with corned beef brisket? The perfect brisket recipes are not only those that require the meat to cook slowly and at a low temperature; but, also those that offer a secret ingredient. My Irish grandmother taught me to add this recipe’s “secret ingredient” (orange juice), as it not only compliments the pickling flavors, but also helps bring out the natural sweet flavors of the carrots. Additionally, I simply prefer using OJ over straight sugar, as some recipes call for. Trust me on this one, the OJ-tip is BRILLIANT! Prepare meat by washing it, and trimming it of excess fat. Wash all vegetables, peel and chop according to ingredient instructions. If using crock pot, add all ingredients, cover and cook on lowest setting for 6-8 hours. If not using crock pot, preheat oven to 325-degrees. Add all ingredients to a Dutch oven, and cover. Set pot in middle of oven, and allow to cook for 3-4 hours, or until meat thermometer reads Carefully remove bri
