How Do You Make Homemade Chocolate Fudge?

Old timey fudge like Mom used to make !! As a matter of fact, this is my Mom’s recipe. Enjoy !! Butter a 8 or 9-inch square pan and set aside. In a 4-qt. sauce pan combine sugar, cocoa, salt. Stir in milk. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture comes to a full rolling boil. Boil without stirring to 234° (soft-ball stage). Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. DO NOT STIR. Cool at room temperature or to 110°. Beat with wooden spoon until fudge thickens and loses some of its gloss. QUICKLY spread into buttered dish (in 1st step). Let cool. Cut into small squares.
