How Do You Make Homemade Carpet Cleaner?
This recipe makes 2 gallons. You can use it right away or store it for use later. After every use, run 1 cup of white vinegar through your carpet cleaner to remove possible residue. Place 6 cups of water in pot. Set heat at low/med. While your water is heating up, grate one bar of Ivory soap and add to pot of water. Stir often. Once Ivory soap is completely disintegrated add 3/4 cup of Borax and 3/4 of washing soda. Stir until you can no longer feel the graininess of the powder in the pot. This takes a couple minutes. (similar to how sugar dissolves in water when stirred) Add 4 cups of hot tap water to kitty litter bucket, pour soap mixture from stove into bucket, add 1 1/2 gallons of hot tap water to bucket. Stir completely. Use immediately or store. If you store the soap you will need to stir it before the first use. Once it cools completely it becomes the consistency of a gel.
