How Do You Make Homemade Caramel Corn?
Making homemade caramel corn is easy, and cheaper than store bought caramel corn. Homemade caramel corn is a delicious anytime treat but is especially fun to make and eat on family movie nights. Turn your homemade caramel corn into a homemade gift by packaging it in a tin can or a decorative box lined with wax paper. Make a big batch of this caramel corn and bring it to the office to share with your co-workers, or turn it into Halloween caramel popcorn balls. Place popped popcorn in a large bowl; set aside. In a large sauce pan combine brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt, and molasses. Bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Remove from heart and stir in baking soda. Stir until mixture is creamy. Pour mixture evenly over the popcorn. (Optional) Toss with the macadamia nuts. Spread on a buttered jellyroll pan and bake at 250 degrees for 30 minutes; stirring every 10 minutes. Cool caramel corn before eating.
