How Do You Make Homemade Bread & Rolls?
Homemade breads and rolls are a great addition to any family dinner and can be less expensive and better tasting than their store-bought counterparts. While homemade breads do require time to rise, the actual work involved in creating them is not very difficult or time consuming. Dough can be kneaded and then allowed to sit during the rest of the meal preparation before being popped in the oven to fill your kitchen with a delicious aroma just in time for dinner. Step 1 Dissolve 1/4 cup sugar in 2 cups of warm water (approximately 110 degrees F) in a large bowl. Stir in the yeast and allow the mixture to rest for 10 minutes. During this time the top of the mixture will become foamy as the yeast activates. Step 2 Add 2 tsp. of salt and 1/4 cup of vegetable oil to the bowl. Stir in 2 cups of flour and mix until well blended. Continue to add the remaining 4 cups of flour to the dough, one cup at a time, until all the flour has been incorporated.
