How Do You Make Homemade Body Armor & Shields?
Children for years have been fascinated by tales of knights in shining armor. With a little help from their parents, kids can put together their own homemade body armor and shields and stage a battle royale right there in the backyard. Step 1 Cut holes in the paper bag for the head (bottom of the bag) and arms (sides, two inches from the bottom). Step 2 Spray paint the bag silver. Step 3 Use the permanent market to draw horizontal lines on the front of the bag to resemble armor plates. Step 4 Use the poster paint to draw a colorful image on the inside of the trash can lid (the side without the handle). Consider a royal blue lion or a yellow cross, outlined in gold, on a red background. Step 5 To add to your basic costume, create a knight’s headdress by cutting the plastic ball in half. Spray paint it silver and tape a strip of aluminum foil to the back half. (One ball yields two hats.) Step 6 To create a sword, file one end of the yardstick to a point and cover with aluminum foil.
