How Do You Make Homemade Biting Fly Repellent?
Biting flies are troublesome insects that attack both humans and animals. When the flies land and bite, a sharp sting is felt. Redness, itching, and irritation commonly are associated with the bite, and often times the fly will bite the same victim numerous times, making it important to use a biting fly repellent when outdoors. Several insect control products are on the market, but you can safely make your own homemade repellent that will work well for use on both humans and animals. Pour two cups of water into a spray bottle, followed by either 1/4 cup of white vinegar, or two teaspoons of garlic powder. Either will work as a repellent that will keep biting flies away, as they do not like the scent or taste of either. Add two teaspoons of your favorite essential oil. Since the garlic or vinegar will not smell attractive, adding an essential oil will mask the odor.
