How Do You Make Great Cake Icing?
I am sure there must be a thousand ways to produce cake icing. I happened upon this method one snowy day while stranded inside. I had purchased a cake mix and a can of ready to spread frosting. I had ingredients to mix up a fruit dip, so my imagination just took off. It makes a great tasting and different icing. You have to purchase the exact ready to spread icing listed in these directions. Otherwise, it will not work. 1. Let cream cheese and marshmallow creme soften at room temperature. 2. Prepare cake as directed on the package and allow to cool on cake racks. 3. Prepare frosting: Empty the can of ready to spread frosting mix (be sure it is Rainbow Chip. Nothing else will work.)into the mixing bowl. Add the marshmallow creme into the bowl, dipping the utensil in water to remove the marshmallow creme easier from the container. Add the cream cheese and mix well. You now have a delicious and different cake topping. 4. Spread on the cooled cake and enjoy.
